Artwork
Why does my artwork need to be 150 DPI minimum for printing? |

When the artwork is printed, the printers print the design using tiny drops of ink. These drops of ink will be made up of 4 colors ( Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black ). When these colors are combined in various amounts, all colors of the rainbow can be printed on the Dye Sub paper. What you need to do is to make sure that the entire paper is covered with ink to produce a nice, crisp and clean image for pressing. When you have a very low DPI ( Dots Per Inch ) for your artwork there is a lot of white space ( or paper ) that will be seen between the dots which will give the final image a light/faded look. When you start to add more dots of ink per inch you will start to see more ink coverage and less paper. The ideal minimal amount of ink coverage is between 150-300 DPI. You can have more Dots Per Inch but at some point it will not do much for your print as you can only have so much ink on the paper. If you keep it between 150-300 DPI most artwork should print nicely on the Dye Sub paper.
